Athlete Psychographics
The numbers above indicate the average runner enjoys a very high level
of personal success, due to
"type-A personalities" and a commitment to
excel. Long distance athletes take that commitment to another, higher
level. They train continuously for months to succeed in their varied
goals of finishing, running the race in a personal best time, and / or
earning an age-group award.
Runners' personal and work lives reflect
this same
drive to succeed. Endurance athletes often work in professional
careers such as
doctors, lawyers and executives. Many are
business
owners, political leaders or decision-makers in their company. The endurance
athlete's lifestyle requires a strong commitment to training, including
a keen interest and proactive approach to maintaining good health.
